THE FINALISTS

  • Oksana Oposhnian is a Ukrainian pianist who currently lives and studies at the University of

    Music Saar in the city of Saarbrücken, Germany. She is a laureate of international competitions,

    including:

    • the 1st Prize at the Riga International Competition for Young Pianists in 2012

    • the Jury Prize and Audience Prize at the HfM Saar Fu-tür Competition in 2023.

    • she is also a finalist of the D-bü Competition in 2024, the final of which will take place in Nuremberg in May 2024.

    Oksana has performed solo recitals as part of competitions and the Fête de la Musique festival in Germany, Latvia and Ukraine. Additionally, she has participated in chamber projects. She also has experience playing piano concertos such as F. Chopin’s Concerto in e-minor, the contemporary piano concerto in D by O. Rybak with the “Kyiv Camerata” orchestra and Bach's Concerto in d minor with the student orchestra of the University of Music Saar.

    Furthermore, she has participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned professors during her studies, including Prof. Yura Margulis, Prof. Arthur Greene, and Prof. Wolfgang Manz.

    Insider, American pianist Edward Leung has performed solo recitals and appeared with orchestras across North America, Europe & Asia.

    Highlights of the 2023-2024 season include performances with Julian Lloyd Webber in Devon, recitals at Wigmore Hall, Austrian Cultural Forum (London), and Musicfest Aberystwyth. His debut album on Resonus Classics was critically acclaimed by BBC Music Magazine and featured on ABC Classic’s Festival of Female Composers and SWR2 Treffpunkt Klassik. He has recently performed at Southbank Centre, International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, and Bridgewater Hall, and has been a Keyboard Charitable Trust and Live Music Now UK artist.

    A sought-after chamber musician, Edward has collaborated with some of the most important chamber musicians of today, including members of the Artemis, Lindsay, and Elias String Quartets, as well as David Campbell, Willam Hagen, Viviane Hagner, Guy Johnston, Boris Kucharsky, Charles Neidich, and Rafal Zambrzycki-Payne. He has worked in masterclasses with

    Ferenc Rados, Richard Goode, Stephen Kovacevich, Joseph Kalichstein, and Nikolai Demidenko.

    After studies at Princeton University and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Francine Kay and Pascal Nemirovski, Edward is currently the Staff Pianist at The Yehudi Menuhin School.

  • Born in Seoul, pianist Soyeon Chang began her piano studies at the age of seven. She continued her studies at Sunhwa Arts Middle and High school with Ji Hyun Kim and Hae Young Chun. She graduated Seoul National University and earned her Bachelor's degree with Ick Choo Moon and Hae Young Kang. Soyeon has won prizes in various competitions such as 1st prize at Fanny Mandelssohn International Competition, PIANO! Competition in Germany Korean Asian Piano Open Competition, Eumack Segye, Buam, youngchang, Nanpa Competition, etc.

    She performed in the 2008 Courchevel Musicalps, 2018 Yamaha Rising concert as well. Soyeon was the winner of the Sunhwa Arts High School of Music Concerto Audition allowing her to perform Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 with Sunhwa Orchestra in the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall with maestro Dae Wook Lee. She was recently awarded top prize at a competition in Israel and subsequently was invited to perform two concerts in Tel Aviv. She graduated with her master Degree in Piano Performance at the Seoul National University, studying with Ick Choo Moon and Aviram Reichert. She performed with the Italian FVG orchestra and the Gunpo Prime Philharmonic Orchestra.
